OVERVIEW & PURPOSE Hello Second and Third Graders! Have you ever wondered how you could draw a perfect silhouette? Have you ever played with casting shadows with different toys in your room?? This week, we can play with that!
CONSIDER:
Do you want to draw a family member or yourself?
Where can you find a wall space that is big enough and dark enough to cast a shadow with a flashlight?
How will you decorate your silhouette?
ACTIVITY Tracing shapes using a flashlight and decorating with your favorite colors, images, interests, or words. MATERIALS
paper (if you are having trouble finding something big enough, you can use a brown bag from the market)
Tape
Pencil
Flashlight
STEPS: 1. Find a dark room in your house 2. Tape a piece of paper to the wall 3. Stand in front of piece of paper you taped to wall (OR chose a family member to stand there) 4. Have a friend , parent , brother , sister hold flashlight so light is towards you creating a shadow that is cast onto the piece of paper. 5. Trace around the outline of the shadow that is created. 6. Decorate how you like! Have fun! 7. Upload a picture to the Google Classroom so I can see what you made!
