Listen to me read the introduction to you:
OVERVIEW & PURPOSE
Hello 5th Grader! The Hingham Art Teachers have been working hard to give you fun and creative ways to review what you already know about visual art. We understand that different families have different resources at home (so do I!) so you will have choices. Over these next few days, 5th grade students will be working on the element of art FORM! All the art teachers miss you a lot, and will see you soon! If you have questions, submit a question on google classroom or ask your parents to email me. I am the art teacher at PRS, Ms Kelfer: [email protected] INTRODUCTION A form is a 3D version of a shape! When looking at a shape like a square or a triangle, you can see and measure how tall and how wide it is. If you look at a CUBE or PYRAMID you can see that it is made up of squares/ triangles but you can see and measure how TALL, how WIDE, and how DEEP it is. (Math connection: you can also measure VOLUME (all the space inside the form)! Artists can build forms that are actually 3D using clay, stone, paper, cardboard etc, or create the ILLUSION of a form on paper by adding extra lines and/or adding VALUE (light and dark shading to create highlights and shadows)! 1.Review the different types of forms you know about! Try to make a list of at least 5! 2. Practice drawing 2 or three forms from above! Optional: Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DIPs3T2dQk OBJECTIVES
